This is the programme of Regular Meetings and Public Outdoor Events which form the main
features of our Society activities.
Our Regular Meetings take place on the first Tuesday of the month in the Allendale Community Centre , Hanham Road, Wimborne.
Regular meetings start at 7:30pm with Society Announcements followed by the Introduction of the main Speaker. An interval of about 30 minutes is scheduled for 9:00pm for refreshments following which Alan Jefferis and/or Bob Mizon presents a ten minute review of the main features of the sky for the forthcoming month.
The balance of the meeting up to its close at 10:00pm may be a Ten Minute Talk or other Society Announcements. Members seeking refreshment of a stronger nature then cross Hanhan Road to The Olive Branch opposite and enjoy a pint and a natter in the bar.
Our Public Outdoor Events take place at Durlston Country Park, Swanage. These sessions are to present the wonders of the night sky to the General Public. Prior to the sky becoming properly dark there is often a short slide-show/talk, given by Bob Mizon or Alan Jefferis, to illustrate the events about to take place. Most occasions will be chosen for known Meteor Showers but other events of interest will be covered as well. Weather conditions may be checked on the day by phoning the Secretary, Tel: 01929 422961.
