| Robert Hatch's Wessex Sky Notes |
| The WAS observing news and notes prepared by Rob Hatch are now available here on-line. There is a skymap for the month, set for 50 deg 45' North and 2 deg. West, ie for the Poole - Bournemouth area, but is useful over a wider region, showing the main constellations and planets visible at 21:00 mid month. There are viewing prospects for the planets and other phenomena, such as comets and meteors, as they pertain for a given month. Sun / moon rise / set times are also included, as are lunar phases and apsides (perigee/apogee dates), variable star viewing information - and a new feature - some astronomical aniversaries. In short, the notes are intended as a digest of much more detailed information which can be found on the web, for which links are included where appropriate. The author gets feedback from time to time on the notes and it is generally encouraging! |
