  • Campaign for Dark Skies.

    WAS Committee member is the national co-ordinator and our local contact for the Campaign for Dark Skies. Please support the C f D S who are actively improving our environment.

  • Year 2000

    Member maintains the Year 2000 web site that explains the issues concerning computers and the year 2000.

  • Graham Wood's Web Pages

    Member has published some Astro Projects for Home Construction that will interest those who have a D-I-Y background and like a 'hands on' approach to their astronomical equipment.

  • Night Sky

    Member has a site devoted to Observational Astronomy. Colin Pither is one of the founders of the Society. The site features a monthly page on observing techniques. Also, what's happening in the night sky! Which telescopes and binoculars to buy. News and Reviews.

  • David Brown's Amateur Astronomy Web Pages

    WAS Committee Member now has a site devoted to Amateur Astronomy. It includes photos taken using slide film, which is then scanned using the Nikon Coolsacn III together with CCD images.

  • Alan Jefferis' Amateur Astronomy & CCD Web Pages

    WAS Committee Member has a home-built observatory in his back garden with a computer-controlled telescope and a CCD camera. His website describes this and shows some of his best CCD images.

  • David's Astronomy Pages

    Ex-member has a roll-off roof shed observatory and 8" LX200 telescope which he has relocated to Scotland from Dorset. His web site describes his shed observatory, astronomical observations and plans for future CCD Imaging.

Mizar Travelling Planetarium

Long-term member Bob Mizon operates this facility, which is used at our annual Exhibition meeting (usually in June). The dome holds up to 35 people. Anyone interested in booking the dome for schools, scouts or similar groups, or events, can contact Bob on 01202 887084,
